NEW YORK, NY and HACKENSACK, NJ – March 4, 2009 – WorkLight®, a secure Web 2.0 for Business company, today announced that Ness Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:NSTC), a global provider of information technology services and solutions, has implemented WorkLight to enable secure access to business-critical enterprise systems using desktop, web-based, and mobile widgets and other consumer Web 2.0 services.
Relying on WorkLight’s signature product, WorkLight Server, Ness Technologies was able to dramatically decrease time management costs, and allow employees to take advantage of internal SAP® business tools via personalized homepages, desktop widgets and other consumer Web 2.0 services. With close to 10,000 employees, Ness expects to save more than 18,000 consultant hours per year in time management-related activities.
“As a global leader in IT services, we constantly look for ways to improve our services, customer offerings, and streamline how we do business,” said Andres Kukawka, VP of IT & CIO at Ness Technologies. “With WorkLight, we have found the perfect solution for securing employee interactions via social media such as desktop gadgets and personalized homepages widgets. We look forward to working together on additional business applications in the future.”
As a first step, Ness implemented a secure widget that streamlines the way employees report billable hours. The widget, which can be accessed via any popular consumer Web 2.0 service, uses the WorkLight Server and adapters to integrate with SAP. Employees can view and update reported hours, target hours (expected numbers of reported hours), view listings of projects and activities, and obtain location-based information, such as preferred language, vacation day allocation or work-hour requirements. Employees can view and revise information when and where they want. The widgets are resident on the user's desktop as part of Windows Vista, Apple Sidebar or Yahoo Widgets. Alternatively, the widgets can also be integrated into the employee's personal start page in Google, Microsoft Live or Netvibes.
According to Gartner, Inc., “Gadgets (widgets) and other Web 2.0 technologies can dramatically improve end-user productivity and acceptance, without comprising ERP robustness.”**
“By bridging the gap between enterprise applications and consumer web technologies, WorkLight is a secure Web 2.0 gateway for business. We are confident that Ness will continue to gain substantial benefits for its employees and its bottom line,” said David Lavenda, VP Marketing and Product Strategy at WorkLight. “Ness represents a great example of a leading company in its field which is successfully incorporating social media into its business strategy.”
